The most common questions
National parcels generally reach their destination in less than 24 hours (except islands). Across Europe, standard delivery times range from 24 to 96 hours. GFD delivers from Monday to Friday during normal business hours.
Once the shipping label for your parcel has been generated by the sender, you can track the status of your parcel via parcel tracking.
You will receive the parcel number for tracking either from your shipper or via our parcel notification email.
If we were unable to find you when we attempted delivery, we will leave a notification card in your letterbox or inform you by e-mail. There you will find your track ID or parcel number so that you can call up detailed information in the parcel tracking.
Unfortunately, you cannot change or determine the exact time of delivery. However, depending on the service booked and the parcel status, there are different delivery options available to you, which will certainly help you. Please note, depending on the service booked (type of parcel) these alternatives may be limited.
You can receive your long-awaited parcel in person? Use the drop-off permission. By issuing a drop-off permission, GFD deposits your parcels at an agreed location – for example in the garage or on the terrace.
You can check the current status of your parcel via parcel tracking. Simply enter the parcel number or Track-ID and you’re ready.
You can view the current location of a parcel at any time online in parcel tracking.
If the parcel has already been delivered according to the parcel tracking, you can check your letterbox to see whether a notification card with parcel details has been left or whether you have received a digital notification card from GFD by e-mail. In both ways, we inform you where your parcel is.
Are you expecting a parcel from GFD but receive an error message when you call up the parcel number in the parcel tracking system?
Then please contact your sender to have the parcel number checked.
Direct contact with our couriers is unfortunately not possible due to operational reasons. Also, customer service has no possibility to get in touch with the deliverer by phone.
If you would like to praise your driver or you are dissatisfied with a specific situation, please get in touch with our customer service .
The maximum weight for parcels sent throughout USA and internationally is 40 kilograms. For global delivery, your GFD depot will be happy to provide you with information.
In the first instance, GFD will try to get a neighbour to sign for your parcel. If that is not possible, the driver will take the parcel to a nearby GFD ParcelShop. Parcels that cannot be delivered via an alternative method (e.g. vehicle tyres and parcels requiring an identity check) will be retained for delivery on the next working day. In all cases, you will receive a notification card.
If we are unable to deliver the parcel on a second attempt, GFD will take your parcel to the GFD depot. You can then collect the parcel yourself from the following day and within 4 working days. Please contact our service team before collection (straight to contact form here), so that your parcel can be prepared for collection.
Once the storage period has elapsed, we will return your parcel to the sender.
Provided your parcel has not yet been delivered, you can select a different delivery option for your parcel. Depending on the type of parcel, various options are available (e.g. drop off permission, GFD ParcelShop delivery and select new address).
As a rule, the driver will try to hand over your parcel at the first delivery attempt.However, if we do not find you, the driver will leave the parcel at a neighbour’s or deposit it for you at the GFD ParcelShop. If the parcel cannot be delivered to the ParcelShop, the delivery driver will take the parcel back to the GFD depot. You will find the information about where your parcel is for collection either on the notification card in your letterbox or in your e-mail inbox.
Info: To ensure that you don’t miss any parcels from GFD, you can give us a drop-off permission in advance. Then your parcel is guaranteed to be delivered in the first delivery attempt.
Depending on the service booked and the status of the parcel, various different options are available.
If your parcel is shown as delivered in the parcel tracking, you will also find further information there, such as whether it was left at a neighbour’s or at the ParcelShop.
Also look in your letterbox for a notification card or in your e-mail box for a delivery notification containing further information about the delivery.

Not all redelivery options are available for every package at every time. Depending on the booked services, the recipient can change the place and time as desired until the day of delivery. If it happens that the option to redirect to adenre address is not available, the delivery and to a ParcelShop is a suitable alternative.

Your parcels should continue to be delivered safely without direct contact. With contactless delivery, the deliverer or driver rings your doorbell as usual and waits until you are ready to receive the parcel. With contactless delivery, the carrier types the name of the recipient into the hand-held scanner and signs his or her name when handing over the parcel. This way, you have no contact with the hand scanner and still receive your parcel safely and contactlessly.
Your package could not be delivered at the address provided by the sender, or the sender has instructed us to return the package to him.
